Grand Katende HEP is located in Kasaï-Central Province, South – East of DR Congo (DRC), AFRICA. This hydro plant consists of 4 units of Vertical Full Kaplan machines (each 16 MW) run-of-the-river facility. The plant is owned by Société Nationale d’Électricité (SNEL) and M/s Angelique International Limited (AIL), Noida is the EPC contractor. This plant is located on Lulua River, Near Katende, DR Congo (DRC) The unit generated from this plant is to supply critical electricity to the Grand Kasaï region.

This project marks the beginning of FLOVEL’s association with M/s Angelique International Limited (AIL), Noida, and we are honoured to collaborate on this prestigious hydropower development.

The original machines was supplied by M/s. BHEL.

Brief Scope:
FLOVELs scope includes Renovation and Modernization of the existing plant, which includes Reverse Engineering, Design, Engineering, Manufacture, Supply, Refurbishment, Erection, Testing, and Commissioning of Electro-mechanical works for Grand Katende Hydroelectric Project (GKHEP), DRC, Africa.

• Turbines and Generators
• Electrical and Mechanical Balance of Plant (BoP)
• Switchyard
• Supervision of Erection, Testing and Commissioning and final taking over of the plant

The all units are to be operated at 16 MW each.

  In terms of electromechanical scope and value, this is the biggest order ever secured by our organization.
• Our Largest Kaplan Turbine Project
  For the Kaplan turbine, this is the largest project by size for us. Delivering a project of this scale further strengthens our expertise in designing and executing high-capacity hydroelectric installations and reinforces our position as a trusted partner for complex renewable energy projects.
• Our First Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
  This award marks our entry into the Democratic Republic of Congo, opening the door to a promising new market in Central Africa. The project signifies not only geographical expansion but also our commitment to supporting sustainable energy development across emerging economies.
• A New Customer Relationship
  This project also marks the beginning of our partnership with a new customer.
