Nilwande HEP
Project Commissioning, 2 x 3.5 MW + 20% COL, India
We are pleased to announce the successful commissioning of Nilwande HEP in Maharashtra, India. The project was commissioned and synchronized to the grid on 19th November 2015.
Nilwande Hydro electric project is built on toe of the Nilwande dam, Maharashtra state of India. The project is installed with 2 units of 3.5 MW +20% COL, this project had two major challenges i.e. very wide range of operating head i.e. 20m to 60m and requirement of positive suction setting as penstock center line was fixed as penstock was embedded during construction of dam.
In the view of above challenges FLOVEL designed a very special Full Kaplan turbine with eight bladed Kaplan runner of 1.6 m runner diameter, operating mechanism is housed inside the oil free runner hub of diameter 900 mm. This installation is a unique example in India as well one of the few example in the world
